Legion Of Mary 2016 created to show our continuing devotion for Jesus through Mary.
The Legion of Mary Dallas Comitium held a retreat for all active and auxiliary members at the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth at 1814 Egyptian Way in Grand Prairie, Texas on September 16 through the 18th. Each member stayed overnight and had delicious meals served by the retreats’ excellent cooks.
The first evening after our dinner, we prayed the Rosary in the Main Chapel and then we were introduced to Father Hugh Gillespie, SMM and author of “Preparation for Total Consecration to Jesus Christ through Mary According to St. Louis De Montfort”. Father’s topic was on the Legion Handbook and what our role in the Legion should be. He made it quite clear that our spiritual make up should be “generosity”.
Saturday was started by morning mass followed by a Continental Breakfast, then back to the Main Chapel for prayer and two sessions with Father Gillespie concerning the Legion of Mary. That afternoon after lunch, Father spoke on the meaning of the icon of Mother Mary with the three hands and what our commitment should be so that we can hold the line in spiritual battle. As a special bonus topic, he covered books, bible sources, and commentaries that we all need to have.
Dinner was followed by the rosary, the Exposition of the Holy Eucharist, and confession until 10 pm.
Sunday morning, we had Continental Breakfast and our final session with Father in the conference room which he reiterated the importance of attending the Acies annually by every member and the three days that every Legionnaire should celebrate and they are 1) the birthday of our Blessed Mother 2) the birthday of our Blessed Lord, and 3) the birthday of St. John the Baptist. We then celebrated the Mass at 11 am, followed it with a good lunch and checked out. We give our thanks our Sister Jeannette for an extremely well planned retreat.
On August 20, our praesidium met with other praesidiums at St.Thomas Aquinas in Dallas and grouped together in rented vans. We were driven to Whitehouse Texas for a retreat at the Wellspring retreat center.
This is one of our Summer functions in which all our members were invited. This time was used to reflect on God and His infinite mercy during this Jubilee Year. We had adoration with Father Gus and spiritual exercises with a meal in between.
This Year of Mercy the Legion has dedicated itself to perform the Enthronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in as many homes as possible. To enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a home is an act of adoration that publicly declares Him as “Lord of the Household.” It is more than setting aside a place for Him in your home; it is the welcoming of the Reign of Christ into the heart of the family, couple, or the person that lives in that house or apartment. Christ becomes the central focus and with that He promises many blessings and graces for families and individuals who honor Him with this enthronement and proclaim Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
It is Jesus’ desire to be where He is welcomed and He reaches out just like He did to Zaccheus: “Hurry, because I am to stay at your house today.”(Luke 19:5) “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will enter his (her) house and dine with him (her), and he (she) with me.” (Rev 3:20) (excerpts also from the “Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus” Ceremonial Booklet.)

June 25,2016 was the day that the Malabar Catholic Church officially became affiliated with the Legion of Mary. This day was a proud moment for our Dallas Comitium which held its monthly meeting at St. Thomas Aquinas in Dallas, Texas. This photo link is to serve as a reminder of the love that all catholics have for Our Lord Jesus and Our Blessed Mother and in particular how the Legion of Mary is reaching out and doing its’ duty as all Catholics should.
June 11, Holy Family of Nazareth Roman Catholic Church hosted the 2016 Senatus meeting after Rosary and Mass that early Saturday morning. Our guest speaker was Father Nathaniel Drogin. The following link shows some photos of this annual event.
Sister Annie George (in red) is to be commended in helping establish the first Syro-Malabar Catholic Church Legion of Mary in the United States for Our Lady Queen of Peace Comitium located in Dallas, Texas. The group of ladies shown have been a legion for Mary but soon they will be officially a “Legion of Mary” praesidium. Sister Annie has been asked to bring her group to their first Curia meeting in June to be officially recognized and accepted. We are all excited to see this happening. The Dallas Comitium will have its’ first Malabar Rite in the great State of Texas and another legion fighting evil.

The Legion of Mary Dallas Queen of Peace Comitium held the annual ACIES at the All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas April 9, 2016. I want to let you know that we still do not have any Lebanese people in our group. This has been a disappointment all year long because all the other praesidiums have full parish participation. The Allocutio was given by Reverend Alfonse Nazzaro, L.C. , he commented that the Legion of Mary was falling short in its’ commitment to our baptismal and confirmation vows to our Lord Jesus and to his Blessed Mother. He said this, not because this ACIES was in appearance one of the most in attendance in years, but because there was still plenty of spaces in the pews for members that had not been recruited. He also stated that this was a reflection about the next generation. Below are the photos of Saturday’s Acies. You can download your selection and/or have the nearest Walgreen’s print the exact size(s) that you want.
